# Download & install

Curator installs like any other Mac app. Download the disk image, drag the app
into your Applications folder, and open it.

1. **Download the app.** Get the latest Curator `.dmg` from the download page.

   > [!NOTE]
   > PLACEHOLDER: the public download page does not exist yet. Replace this with
   > the real link when it ships. `/* DOWNLOAD-LINK-TBD */`

2. **Open the disk image.** Double-click the downloaded `.dmg` file. A window
opens with the Curator icon and a shortcut to your Applications folder.

   {/* SCREENSHOT: the mounted .dmg window showing the Curator app icon with an arrow pointing to the Applications folder shortcut */}

3. **Install Curator.** Drag the **Curator** icon onto the **Applications**
   folder.

4. **Launch it.** Open your Applications folder and double-click **Curator**.

Curator is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a security warning. No right-click workaround needed.

> [!NOTE]
> You do not need to install **Ollama**, the local AI engine, separately before
> this. Curator's first-run setup can install it for you. See
> [First-run setup](/get-started/setup/).

## Requirements

> [!IMPORTANT]
> Curator needs **macOS 12 (Monterey)** or later. It is a universal build, so it
> runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

## Next steps

With Curator installed, open it and follow
[First-run setup](/get-started/setup/) to get it ready to use.
