# Trash, Starred, and Recent

Three sidebar views give you fast access to files you care about or recently touched.

## Trash

**Trash** is an in-app soft delete. When you move a file to Trash it leaves your normal
views but is not gone. Trash works for both local folders and cloud storage. You have
three actions:

- **Restore** puts a file back where it was.
- **Delete forever** removes a single file from Trash for good.
- **Empty Trash** clears everything in Trash at once.

> [!CAUTION]
> **Delete forever** and **Empty Trash** delete the actual file from your folder or bucket,
> not just Curator's record of it. There is no undo. Use **Restore** if you are unsure.

> [!NOTE]
> PLACEHOLDER: confirm that Delete forever and Empty Trash delete the actual file from the
> storage source (local folder and S3), versus only removing Curator's record of it.

## Starred

**Starred** lists every file you have starred. Star a file and it shows up here, ready to
open without a search.

## Recent

**Recent** shows files that were recently added or touched.
